Intersecting disciplines Barstow Middle School | |||
Social science and the arts meet and mingle at Barstow Middle School as a result of collaborative planning between classroom teachers and Kathleen Villeneuve, the library media specialist.
Barstow students are not limited to classroom projects in this merger of culture and art. The music teacher, Doug Kruse, frequently uses the library to assist students in studying the history of the musical instruments they play in the school band. A mix of cultures, each having distinct fours, arts, and music, has existed in Barstow for many years. Art and music are close to food preparation in popularity, when students share their own cultural heritages and research the special characteristics of other cultures.
